I start with a psychiatric evaluation to better understand my patients and make an informed decision when it comes to diagnosis. After this, therapy and/or medication management are options. I see ages 10-55. I have worked with patients with Depression, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, Autism, DMDD, Bipolar, PTSD, and Psychosis. I offer in person and telehealth appointments. In person available Tuesday and Wednesdays only. Telehealth Tuesday-Friday. I do not do testing for Autism. I have a colleague I use for ADHD testing.

I'm passionate about the importance of people having easy access to mental healthcare. Before joining the healthcare field, I taught in low-income and underserved communities. Seeing the impact that a lack of mental healthcare had in these areas drove me to return to school and begin a career focused on providing that much-needed care. In my eyes, treatment can significantly increase the quality of life both mentally as well as physically.

I’m not sure I have an “ideal” patient. Most of my career has been spent treating anyone who came to the hospital or was assigned to my care. If I reflect on some patient success stories, each case was collaborative, utilizing evidence-based medicine with patients that had a high degree of motivation to get better, either utilizing medication or therapy and to maintain their recovery through self-care.

I began my career 20 years ago working as a psychiatry research assistant at UC San Francisco. I attended undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley where I double majored in Psychology and Integrative Biology. I went to the Mayo Clinic for medical school in 2006. I loved my time at Mayo, especially my classmates and studying medicine. My most cherished rotation was, of course, psychiatry, and I chose a psychiatry residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. At the UW, I was chief resident of the outpatient clinic and I founded the psychotherapy career track.

Dr. Allen graduated with a B.A. in Psychology with honors from Stanford University. She attended Oregon Health and Science University for medical school where she also earned a Masters of Public Health in biostatistics and epidemiology. She completed psychiatry residency at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program, a joint program between Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Massachusetts Mental Health Center. She served as Chief Resident of the psychiatry consult service at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She then went on to complete a 2-year fellowship in Neuropsychiatry at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
