Greetings! I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 12 years experience working with children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in mental health. My approach is patient-centered and holistic, creating a partnership with each client. I advocate for patient empowerment through family and patient education, clear communication, and trust to help improve quality of life. My experience in medical and mental health allows me to make appropriate treatment plans, therapy and medication recommendations, if necessary. I believe in treating the root cause and not just treating symptoms.

Board Certified in lifespan psychiatry, adult health and addiction, my preferred clients are those 18-years-old and older that are primarily seeking professional consultation and treatment for a struggle with addiction and/or mood disorder. I will consider adolescents on a case-by-case basis. I'm a proponent of individual and group psychotherapy and the utilization of recovery models such as 12 Step programs and SMART Recovery. Medication alone is usually not the answer but a comprehensive care plan involving medication (if deemed necessary) and proper counseling.

Dr. Riddhi Kothari is a board-certified general psychiatrist. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Psychology. She completed her medical school education at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic medicine in 2013. She completed her residency training in adult psychiatry at University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry residency program in Baltimore, Maryland. During residency, she served as Chief Resident for Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) and Consult-Liaison Services, and was a recipient of Excellence in Community Psychiatry award.
