I have been a nurse for over twenty years. I became a psych mental health NP to meet people where they are at. Just like physical health our mental health needs to be cared for in a therapeutic nonjudgmental way. The goal is not to change who you are but to help heal you from the insults and injuries that are caused by life events.

Tika brings to Lifestance years of experience working with children and teenagers both in and out of the medical field. These experiences have resulted in being able to relate to and enjoy working with this patient population. Her nursing career started in Washington, D. C. working with adults, and she loved it. It was here that she grew in her skills as a nurse and she began to see a common need of mental health in each and every one of her patients. Being able to walk with patients through some of the hardest moments of their life really increased her love for the field of mental health for both pediatrics and adults.

Taking new clients within 48 hours ! We offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care. We treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals so that you may begin the healing process and find your true self again.

I work with clients who have a history of trauma, or addiction, and I have worked extensively with the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide psychotropic medication management but work best with clients also open to alternative modalities in addition to medication. Because of my addiction background, I limit the use of controlled substances, such as benzos and stimulants, but I am aware that there is a place for these meds in some treatment plans.

I’ve been a nurse since 2002 and worked in the Neuroscience Unit and Surgical Trauma ICU at VCU. In 2012, I graduated from VCU with a degree in Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I worked with inmates at the Henrico Jail for several years, practiced telemedicine (before it was cool) from home for 1 year working with clients in Appalachia, and then I worked with Diamond Healthcare in nursing homes and inpatient for crisis and substance abuse. Most recently, I worked for Zoe Therapy Services.

As a former Army officer and oncology nurse, I've spent a lot of time with people at their best and at their most challenging moments. Those experiences helped shape my outlook on life as well as medicine, and I changed focus to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. It is my hope to help people engage and find contentment in their lives prior to being confronted with a life-changing moment like a cancer diagnosis. I realize that we all come with our own stories and have travelled our own paths; my goal is to meet you where you wherever you are and work with you to get you where you want to go.

Victor Nwagwu is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Virginia who has been practicing since 2023. Victor utilizes a patient-centered approach to a trauma-informed type of care. He is a certified mindfulness informed practitioner (CMIP) that utilizes mindfulness skills to provide supportive psychotherapy during medication management. Victor is skilled in MI, active listening, and cultural competence. Outside of work, Victor enjoys soccer and traveling.
