After 13 years treating people in crisis at Seton Shoal Creek Hospital, I am acutely aware that the lack of mental health providers in Central Texas contributes in unnecessary delays in receiving high quality mental health treatment and can lead to psychiatric crisis and hospitalization. I opened my private practice to help bridge that gap.

Hi and welcome to my practice . I strive to do a comprehensive psychiatric assessment that looks at the whole person , including their strengths , their history and the goals they may have . While I primarily do med assessments, I also use interpersonal and cognitive techniques to help the person arrive at the goal of Better mental health! All are unique and have had a different journey ....some stand in their own way, and we use a collaborative approach to help the patient self assess , and maintain an improved self , more confident and insightful and assisting in their own mental health needs .

I am a board-certified psychiatrist currently accepting new patients. My practice is strictly through the use of telepsychiatry which means that all appointments will be held via HIPAA compliant video conferencing software. Many patients prefer this means of treatment as appointments can be done from the comfort of your home or office without the need for lengthy commutes or waiting rooms and it provides access to mental health treatment to patients located in more remote locations. I treat adult (18+) patients located in Colorado, Texas and Washington State though controlled substance prescribing may only be done in Colorado.

Our philosophy is that every child should be imparted with two gifts. One is roots and the other is wings. I am a licensed physician since 2005 and have been practicing primarily child and adolescent psychiatry since 2008. Our goal is to see every child flourish in the context of his or her family. In addition to traditional psychiatric medication management, we also offer alternative treatments, as well as individual and family therapy.

I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner working with clients since 2014 that believes in meeting people where they are at, giving consideration to the person as a whole, creating a treatment plan with you instead of at you, and transparency in treatment. Cynthia Benton, M.D. provides psychopharmacology and/or psychotherapy services for adult patients in her private practice in Austin, Texas. She completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and completed her residency in psychiatry at the University of California at San Francisco. She is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She completed medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1999 and completed her residency and fellowship at The University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2004.
