Dr. Isela Werchan is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry. Dr. Werchan completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at El Paso. She received a medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed a general psychiatry residency training at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. She was Chief Resident and awarded the VA Outstanding Resident Award and the Van Dao Award. Her training experience includes the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, traumatic and obsessive compulsive disorders, as well as psychotic disorders.

Also as I have training and expertise in psychopharmacology, medication management could be assumed and continued, or managed in a split treatment.

Medication and psychotherapy are the most common treatments for depression, but they do not work in all cases—in fact, some patients get no relief from either. This can be due to the side effects of their medications or a simple lack of effectiveness in those treatments. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved and indicated therapy with minimal-side effects for these cases. TMS can also treat OCD, Anxiety, and aid in smoking cessation.
