As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, my specialty is providing client-centered mental health care that includes medication management, psychotherapy and support to address the psychosocial stressors that the client could be experiencing.
As a person, who has also experienced struggles in my life, I feel that I am able to empathize with other people who are experiencing struggles in their life - be it mental, psychosocial or physical. I want to provide support to that person, who wants to get better and who wants to learn healthier ways to deal with their life struggles.
