I am Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University and a board-certified psychiatrist committed to offering comprehensive care for individuals, couples and families. I practice and value psychotherapy because it can be an enormously powerful tool to enhance personal growth, learning and self-discovery. Being a physician enables me to offer the option of medication when needed. This has the advantage of integrating both types of treatments with one provider only. I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in psychotherapy and medication management. My philosophy is driven by my belief that no one’s mental illness looks alike and shouldn’t be treated as such. Because of this I have cultivated a passion for an individualized approach to care. It is my hope that my compassion, empathy and ability to understand the human experience facilitates a safe and nurturing therapeutic environment for all of my clients.

I specialize in the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults. I believe in goal-oriented and empathic therapy, as well as conservative, targeted, and effective psychopharmacologic intervention when indicated. In my experience, high quality communication between patient and psychiatrist most often leads to optimal outcomes. I have expert knowledge of evaluation, medication treatment and psychotherapy. My approach is to listen carefully, understand your particular needs then tailor customized treatments. For those already in psychotherapy or not having that need, I am happy to provide medication treatment alone. I will monitor your responses to medication carefully so that you do not experience side effects and to see your gains are maximized. I practice an interpersonal form of psychotherapy. I am a practicing adult psychiatrist in New York City. I graduated medical school in Iran with honors. I have a background in psychiatry research and have co-authored over thirty published papers in the field. I completed my psychiatry residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I provide both medication treatment and psychotherapy services. I have received additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma and Dissociation-focused psychotherapy, Couple and Family Therapy, and completed an Intensive Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Fellowship at The William Alanson White Institute.

I am a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, affiliated with Icahn School of Medicine and New York Psychoanalytic Institute. I treat people who feel stuck, either because of paralyzing anxiety, depression, or some other inexplicable emotional symptom. Others feel stuck in a particular way of relating to others, a specific view of themselves, compelling or distressing fantasies, or due to past traumatic experiences. I aim to provide individualized treatment to target a variety of difficulties in managing emotions, identity, and interpersonal functioning. When necessary, I also prescribe medication to optimize treatment.

He is a board certified psychiatrist maintaining a private practice focusing on Mood and Anxiety Disorders in adults and adolescents. I started my career doing an internship at a prestigious children’s hospital in the Texas Medical Center on an adolescent GI unit where I was able to work with individuals with eating related disorders. I then went on to complete my Bachelors in Nursing Degree and began working as a Registered Nurse in a Pediatric Unit caring for the psychiatric population.

Yeqi is a listener, mentor, and partner in patient's recovery journey. She gets to know every patient by listening to their history, what they are at currently, and what their goals are. Throughout the treatment course, Yeqi provides extensive psychoeducation, discusses different treatment options, and eventually reaches a plan of action that is individualized, feasible, and efficacious for each patient. Getting a prescription is never the end of the story. Yeqi strives to achieve sustainable treatment goal by empowering patients to become engaged partners in their care.

As a double-boarded neurologist and psychiatrist, my goal is to improve one's emotional well-being by combining my understanding of the mind-brain interface and each person's unique circumstances to create an individualized, integrative treatment plan.
