I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and earned my MD from Jefferson Medical College. I completed my Psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai (NYC) where I received extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. My specialties are in the areas of mood, anxiety and eating disorders. I am also trained and certified as a health coach by The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I have maintained a private practice in Scarsdale since 2005 and I am now thrilled to be able to offer my services to patients in Florida via my telemedicine practice.

I have an established private child and adolescent psychiatry practice serving Westchester County and New York City. My training and experience are targeted toward the developmentally disabled, learning disabled and autism spectrum disorder population of both children and adults. Furthermore, I have experience in non-profits that served LI, NYC, and Westchester county which have granted me insight into school systems and various special education departments in these communities.

Many of my patients found only temporary relief from prior treatments and are interested in a real change. I am a very experienced clinician, providing individualized treatment based on thorough assessment and refers you to therapists who would be a better match for you. I have trained at Cornell and Columbia and I am on the faculty at both places. I am a training and supervising analyst at Columbia and am expert in TFP (Transference Focused Psychotherapy).

Dr. Penn is a board-certified psychiatrist who treats adults, children, and adolescents. She is dedicated to providing quality, evidence-based, individualized treatment. Dr. Penn is currently an attending psychiatrist and clinical professor at New York University (NYU) and is in private practice. She is licensed in New York and California. She completed her Child & Adolescent Fellowship at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and her residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. ​

I specialize in multiple treatment modalities including medication management, therapy, and integrative treatment, all intended to support your mental well-being. I am experienced with the pharmacological treatment of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, intrusive thoughts, and post traumatic stress disorder. In addition, I utilize therapy and integrative modalities of wellness to support clients' well-being. I am a multi-faceted provider that flourishes on working with clients who are open and inquisitive.

Seeking a psychiatrist for oneself or a family member can be a daunting process. Recognizing this, I work to put the entire family at ease through my unique approach to treatment. I describe myself as family-centered, meaning that I cater not just to the patient, but to their entire family. Through a comprehensive intake process that takes into account cultural perspectives, I assess the individual from a developmental, biological, and psycho-social perspective. I view my patients as complex individuals who are so much more than a diagnosis. My preferred modality is pharmacotherapy, though I also provide psychotherapy.

I specialize in medication management and psychotherapy with teenagers and adults struggling anxiety, depression, ADHD, etc. I am currently accepting telehealth patients in the state of NY. We do accept out of network benefits.
