Hi there! My name is Dr. Brittany Vasquez and I am dual board certified as an adult and child and adolescent psychiatrist. I specialize in the treatment of young adults (<35 yo), teens, and children who may need help with depression, anxiety, ADHD, adjustment, trauma (childhood), autism spectrum disorder, and emerging longer term mood and psychotic disorders. Originally from Appalachia and having returned home, I am excited to be starting private practice at the established and historic Carolina Mountain Psychiatry.

At Safe Haven Psychiatrics, we provide quality psychiatric services while taking a holistic approach to each patients mental health. Our goal is to focus not only on the diagnoses but also on the over-all well being of the individual, while empowering them to take control of their mental health.

Velgan Rodriguez is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. She received her bachelor's degree from The State University of New York at Purchase, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Hartwick College, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in psychiatric mental health at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Velgan has worked as a RN at Rikers Island correctional facility and the Durham County Detention Facility. She also worked as a critical care RN for The Durham VA Medical System, Duke University Hospital & UNC Medical Center Intensive Care Units

Dr. Sharyn Comeau has been practicing as a board certified Adult, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, for over 29 years. She completed her Undergraduate Degree at Pace University, and her Graduate Degree at New York University and received her medical degree from Ross University in Dominica West Indies. She completed her General Psychiatry Residency at the University of Connecticut Hartford and Pediatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

We aim at delivering comprehensive care, from medication management to therapy and healthy living. We consider all aspects of our patient's situation to prepare treatment plans. We are firm believers that a healthy body equals a healthy mind.

My name is Janelle and I am dual licensed FNP and PMHNP and I have a servants heart. I have been an RN for 19 years in acute care, pediatrics and women's health and a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Family medicine, Medical weight management and Psychiatry for 4 years. I am currently completing my Doctorate Studies. I see ages 5 and up. I manage all mood disorders from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and substance induced mood disorders. I also manage ADHD and Autism. I am Faith Based, Empathetic, Open-Minded, Warm, Direct, Affirming and Integrative. I believe in healing the whole person.

I am a psychiatrist in private practice at Raleigh Psychiatric Associates since 2015. Treatments offered include both medications and psychotherapy. My sub-specialty is women's reproductive mental health. Ken is a Certified Physician Assistant with decades of specialty experience. He graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC with his PA-C degree. Ken has been serving the greater Winston Salem area for years and has touched countless lives through his career. Ken approaches health care from a holistic lens. He believes that self-care, physical activity, and proper nutrition are important components to one’s overall well-being. Ken is well versed in caring with a wide range of clients, from young children to late adulthood. He has a particular interest in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and life transitions.

Dr. Carnetha Simmons has been practicing as a board certified Adult, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, for over 14 years. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, and completed her general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent Fellowship at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina.

I have diverse knowledge in the treatment of Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder, and ADHD. I believe an individual cannot focus on improving their Physical Wellbeing without first becoming Strong Mentally! Having worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner first, I have tremendous appreciation for individuals striving towards Lifelong Wellness In ALL They Do! She has 26 years of psychiatric nursing experience working in various healthcare settings, including inpatient psychiatric facilities. She earned her MSN at Walden University Minneapolis, MN. She has experience working with patients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, autism, and ADHD. Barbara is passionate about providing compassionate care and support for sexual and gender minorities.
