Hello and welcome to my profile! I have a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Columbia University in Psychiatry and am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults in multiple settings facing various complex mental health issues, including ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, bipolar, and psychotic-spectrum disorders. I take a holistic approach to psychiatry and work to help with burn out and stress to best assist individuals to flourish in their daily lives.

Katrina works primarily with young adults, adolescents and children. Her goal is to provide individualized holistic care to each patient using a combination of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Katrina also treats non-complex PTSD with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Katrina has clinical experience in multiple settings over the last 5 years.

I am a board-certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Columbia School of Social Work with a MSW and Yale University with a MSN. I have a post-masters certificate in child and adolescent therapy and have trained at the Beck Institute of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in utilizing CBT for anxiety and mood disorders. I have received certification in Exposure Response Prevention from the University of Pennsylvania for the treatment of OCD. I have also received training in parent management training (PMT) at the Yale Parenting Center.

I have worked in different roles in oncology for over 9 years and provide support to individuals who have been affected by cancer (oncology patients, survivors, caregivers, and individuals experiencing loss). I have a strong understanding of the unique needs that can arise through all phases of the cancer journey.

I have extensive experience with all variety of emotional and psychiatric issues, having worked with adults in hospital, community and office settings. I provide psychotherapy for the individual, with or without medication management. I also will provide medication management alone if desired. Pharmacogenetic testing is an exciting technology which allows for selection of medications without trial and error. I now provide this testing (simple cheek swab), analysis and counseling. Test kits can be sent directly to patient.

Dr. Stuart Hedgpeth is a board-eligible psychiatrist. While Dr. Hedgpeth primarily focuses on medication management, he understands that mental health often requires approaches from multiple perspectives. Psychodynamic and supportive therapies are offered on an as-needed basis in addition to medication management. New patients are provided 60 minutes for initial visits and follow ups are given 30 minutes.
