She has extensive experience in multiple inpatient and outpatient facilities, and with many varieties of mental health issues affecting children, adolescents and adults. These issues include mood disorders, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, depression, ADHD, OCD and bipolar disorders, as well as postpartum, perimenopausal and menopausal issues in various manifestations.

Akosua is also a trained Family Nurse Practitioner-BC. She treats patients of all ages, from children and adolescents to adults and seniors. Her non-judgemental approach to her practice in mental health is what makes her unique.

Ever since I was young I have been told that I am an easy person to talk to. I truly enjoy practicing psychiatry and helping people improve their mental health. I am a good listener. Nanda Muthusawmy, MD, is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of ADHD, mood regulation disorders, behavior disorders, depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety, OCD, and Tic Disorders.

I graduated from Johns Hopkins University, and then received my M.D. from New Jersey Medical School. I completed my psychiatric residency at New York University and then did a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I remained on the faculty where I taught medical students, did research in clinical psychopharmacology, and had a faculty practice. I also completed an externship in cognitive behavioral therapy under the tutelage of Dr. Aaron Beck at the University of Pennsylvania. I have written many published articles and have lectured extensively in the area of clinical psychopharmacology.

I bring a comprehensive background in psychiatric and mental health nursing, enriched through substantial experience in diverse inpatient and outpatient healthcare settings. My treatment approach places significant emphasis on comprehending the intricate interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors to gain a profound understanding of wellness, disease, and the healing process.
