I am well-versed in the care of depression and anxiety, treatment resistance, bipolar and mood disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, insomnia, OCD, PTSD, agoraphobia, as well as streamlining medication regimes, tapering and switching medications without withdrawal effects, and minimizing/eliminating side effects.
Have you felt as if your past psychiatry providers didn’t have the time for your concerns, or even didn’t really know you or hear you? Working together to find the most appropriate diagnoses and best possible medication or other treatment modalities for you as an individual is my goal. I believe that this can be best accomplished by establishing a mutually respectful and trusting relationship, where you will be treated as an individual, not an illness or a number.

You feel nervous, sad, stressed, or have sleep problems. You may want/need medicine & wonder if there are other options, too. You want to work with someone who will actually listen to you. Many individuals I work with are in a perinatal or parenting stage of life. Most are interested in adding natural remedies for mental health and a warmer psychiatric experience. If you are interested in science-backed natural alternatives to medications and want psychiatric care that offers both medicine and natural treatments, I can help. I use evidence-based treatments (both pharmaceuticals and supplements) Learn more at www.reveriemh.com.

Now offering ADHD testing! Facing life’s challenges are difficult enough without struggling to find a provider that will take the time to listen & partner with you in your care. Well, search no more! Dr. Dana believes providing compassion & building a strong rapport are the foundations to creating a trusting partnership. She doesn't believe in "cookie cutter" approaches. Rather, Dr. Dana considers several interventions to help you achieve an optimal quality of life based on your specific needs & stressors: psychotherapy, psychotropic medication & integrative psychiatry (e.g. herbs, supplements, essential oils, plant-based medicine).

I am a board-certified, Mayo Clinic trained psychiatrist and a psychotherapist. My psychoanalytic training enables me to help patients both with their immediate symptoms and with underlying issues. These underlying issues, while not always obvious, can greatly contribute to and sometimes even be the cause of the presenting symptoms. This approach helps patients address their problems in a more comprehensive and lasting way; it helps them grow and become more content, productive and creative individuals.

NOW ACCEPTING new virtual patients with same-week appointments. The thought of being all alone in a negative cycle that may be a result of anxiety, trauma, depression, unhealthy coping skills, and/or environmental stressors can be daunting. The treatment for most mental illnesses is effective therapy. However, some need a little more than therapy. How would you know if you could benefit from medications? If you have been suffering for a long time in a limited and/or negative cycle, most likely your brain will need some help; the right psychotropic medication will help improve your symptoms.

My clinic is named Being You Mental Health because I believe "being you" is a unique experience, and I feel honored to help my patients overcome barriers to becoming their most authentic and unique selves. I employ a strengths-based, patient-centered, and collaborative approach and I combine psychotherapy with psychiatric medication management (only if needed) to help my patients achieve the most improvement in their mental health and functioning. The electronic medical record I use is Luminello. Patients will have access to a patient portal (similar to mychart for epic) through which secure documents and messages can be exchanged

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Psychiatrists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
