Mehta Sports Psychiatry has a focus on the confidential evaluation and treatment of mental illness in both the general adult population and elite athletes. Treatment focuses on the relationship between mind and body, incorporating various therapeutic approaches including lifestyle modifications, therapy, and medication. Mental health conditions treated include depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, insomnia, and personality disorders. Other athlete-specific issues that we address include performance anxiety, overtraining syndrome, coping with acute injury recovery, and transition to retirement.
I completed my medical degree at UCLA and subsequently completed my training at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. I am currently on faculty at the University of Southern California as the Sports Psychiatrist for USC Athletics. I am concurrently an Assistant Professor at UCLA and staff psychiatrist for LA County Department of Mental Health.
