Hi there! I'm a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I've worked with patients in various inpatient and outpatient settings. My expertise lies in helping individuals dealing with substance abuse, addiction, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. I provide psychiatric care for adults, age 18 and older. I take a wholistic approach to psychiatric care, focusing on the physical, psychological, emotional and social well-being of each patient. I provide both therapy and medication management, integrating an evidence based approach to nutrition, joyful movement, and social connection.

Hollie-Anne Stanwood received her Undergraduate at University of Maine Fort Kent. Upon completion of her board exam she worked in multiple acute care settings over the course of 5 years. These include, Acute Cardiac Care, ICU, ED, PACU, Outpatient Surgery along with settling as a RN in a psychiatric outpatient medication management clinic before finishing her masters. During this time Hollie-Anne attended Walden University where she completed her Master's of Nursing degree. Hollie-Anne now practices as a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maine.

As a family psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am able to assess, diagnose and provide medication management. Currently, I am only taking middle school children through adulthood. When prescribing medication for any child or adult it is important to take into consideration the mind, body, spirit connection. In order to best serve the individual, it is extremely important to differentiate between what is medical vs. psychiatric vs needing other modalities. I provide counseling for the adult clients who I see for med management, should they want it.

They desire a compassionate guide who recognizes the complexity of their struggles with conditions like depression, anxiety, or trauma. I would like to help with mental health issues to include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, eating disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, as well as schizophrenia and psychosis. I can offer supportive psychotherapy as well as medication management, TMS and integrative holistic approaches to care.

Loneliness, sadness, anxiety, depression, irritability, anger and/or mood swings are common experiences. Some have experienced trauma in the past, which may continue to cause problems today. I am committed to help people live their best lives. I completed a medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and am board-certified in Psychiatry and Preventive Medicine.

I have maintained a continuous psychotherapy practice since 1979. In addition to clinical practice I taught in the graduate program for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners at the University of Southern Maine - retired as Professor Emeritus in 2017. My background is in psychodynamic therapy which acknowledges the importance that family of origin plays in our life as well as the role of the unconscious in determining our decisions. I accompany my clients on a journey of self-discovery and self-awareness which leads to symptom reduction and a more fulfilling life. My practice consists of individual, couples and family therapy- I do not prescribe in my practice.
