For 20 years, I was a full-time faculty member at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine teaching medical students and training residents. I have 32 years experience in private practice assisting persons with substance use disorders, major psychiatric disturbances and behavioral addictions, including sexual addiction and gambling. As a Board certified psychiatrist in Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatrist, I deal with the negative consequences of a variety of disorders alone and in combination, as well as relationship issues not related to addictions. I am particularly trained and experienced in the use of medication for these problems and their symptoms.

Dr. Lake works with people of all ages and demographics who are experiencing mental health issues and disorders. She provides more than just medication management. Dr. Lake emphasizes the use of Psycho-education and comprehensive assessments of each patient's mental health needs to best develop effective treatment strategies, including the prescribing of medication in addition to daily/weekly lifestyle changes or plans to complement medication. She collaborates with the therapists on her team to provide integrated care for her patients benefiting from both therapy and medication.

My treatment focus begins with a comprehensive evaluation with the explicit goal of making an accurate clinical diagnosis. A treatment plan that will address the underlying problem/s as well as the specific symptoms of the patient is then formulated. I use Psychopharmacology (medication management) and/or Psychotherapy to treat my patients - depending upon the condition and the your individual preference. I am currently offering treatment both via video link or in person.

Beata Gilbert is passionate about helping individuals with mental health disorders, and about helping end the stigma related to psychiatric issues. She started her career in health care and continues to pursue her nursing degree. She has worked extensively in different areas of nursing and avidly helped individuals to achieve optimized progress in mental health. She finds delights in coaching, psychoeducation and medication management for teens and adults. She is an advocate for preventative interventions and shared decision making.

Ruth earned a BSN with a focus on addiction studies. She assisted with the recovery of adolescents and adults by using Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT), counseling, education, and group therapy. Since addiction treatment often requires treating other psychiatric problems, Ruth gained expertise in the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, and ADHD as well studying Motivational Therapy (MT) and psychotherapy.
