Dr. Rivera is an adult psychiatrist with a passion for providing empathetic care with special attention to cultural, social, biological, and psychological contributions to mental illness. Her clinical experience includes treating a wide variety of psychiatric illnesses with particular interest in anxiety, depression, perinatal/women’s mental health, and trauma. She believes in working collaboratively to create personalized treatment plans that can include medications, lifestyle changes, or psychotherapeutic approaches with the goal of improving mental wellness.
As an undergraduate, Dr. Rivera attended Vanderbilt University and graduated with a double major in Neuroscience and Spanish. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. For her psychiatry residency training she attended the University of Southern California/LAC+USC program.
As part of her psychiatry training, Dr. Rivera was selected as a chief resident concentrating on resident and medical student education. Clinically, in addition to general psychiatric practice, she has received focused training in the treatment of pregnant and postpartum patients.
