“ If I am not for myself, who will be for me? And if not now, when?” Dr Brown believes it to be an extraordinary privilege to be trusted with patients’ life stories, and to alleviate pain and suffering. She is a native of Washington DC, but made Houston her home after earning a BS at George Washington in DC, completing medical school in Tel Aviv, Israel, and residency training in New York City, where she served as Chief Resident and was voted Resident of the Year. In addition to the privilege of being a healer, Dr Brown has had the academic honor of serving as a national examiner for board certification.
Dr Brown treats all psychiatric conditions, but has a special interest in diagnosing and treating complex mood and anxiety disorders. She strives to create a collaborative treatment plan that is tailored to the needs of each patient, utilizing years of expertise in psychopharmacology, and providing, or referring, for therapy when indicated.
Dr Brown provides assessments, diagnosis and medication management, with or without psychotherapy. She works in conjunction with non-medical therapists, and with other physicians to ensure the best care. All psychiatric care is provided by Dr Brown, not by nurse practitioners or physician assistants. Her goal is always to get, and keep, her patients well.
