Thanks for considering Collaborative Mental Health of Carrboro (CMHOC). I'm Dr. John Brion, PhD, PMHNP and I work with people age 12 and up for a wide range of challenges including: ADHD (Adult and Child) ; Addictions (Sex, Food, Hoarding, drugs/alcohol, etc.); Mood disorders (anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder) and issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation. I am licensed/certified to prescribe all psychiatric medications and I provide brief, solution focused psychotherapy.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I approach care holistically rather than from an illness-based approach. I take time to listen to you to begin to know the whole, unique person you are. My goal is to help you find strengths you already have (yes, you do!) to help you grow through your problems, with or without the help of medication.
Asking for help with a psychiatric or mental health problem takes a lot of strength and courage, I know. But asking for help is the first step in healing.
