I am Dr. Jodi Mackey, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Buffalo, New York. I work with clients statewide via telehealth, ages 18 through the older adult population. The most common theoretical approach I use during therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My communication style is relatable, honest, non-judgmental, and respectful towards my clients. I grew up in the inner-city projects and always knew I would be a doctor.
I didn’t know what kind of doctor I would be, but I knew the purpose would be to help people who looked like me and whose lives may not start the easiest. Although I’ve endured significant trauma of my own throughout my entire Journey to becoming a nurse practitioner, I knew getting others through their rough times was well worth it.
During our first session, you expect me to gather a thorough history of your past mental health experiences, medical history, and current symptoms that prompted you to the session so we can collectively come up with a treatment plan that you feel comfortable with.
