| Polski For new patients, I offer appointments within one week. In urgent situations, I may offer a next-day appointment. I have 30 years of experience (the last 12 years as a University of Michigan psychiatry professor) in psychiatric practice in various settings, from emergency rooms and inpatient units to outpatient clinics and community services. I am also a trained psychotherapist. At the heart of my treatment approach is a close alliance and partnership with my patients and their families. I use a range of interventions, from helping you understand psychiatric symptoms and make lifestyle changes (for students, it includes support with obtaining appropriate school/college accommodations) to different therapy modalities and advanced psychopharmacology. When appropriate, I use my research background in affective and developmental neuroscience.
