I have a passion for ensuring that those struggling with mental health issues receive prompt and effective treatment, as I understand the substantial toll that untreated ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other mood disorders can take on someone's life.
I am a certified Physician Assistant and completed my master's degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. I have several years of experience as a Family Medicine Physician Assistant, operating as the sole medical practitioner of my outpatient community health clinic. I manage an extensive array of acute and chronic health conditions, with a significant portion of my practice dedicated to diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders ranging from mild to severe.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, ADHD, and bipolar disease.
Book with me now by clicking on my website. I am here to help people who prioritize their mental health but don't necessarily work traditional hours. I have worked the night shift for the last 13 years and know the challenges of such a schedule. The stressors of life are more difficult when you can't sleep, feel stressed, or have anxiety. Finding help shouldn't be that difficult so I offer flexible scheduling so you get the help when you need it most.

Are you concerned your psychiatrist might diagnose & prescribe medication ("match the pill to the ill") without addressing root causes of your problem? Most psychiatrists don't look at the brain as part of the body & don't think about underlying conditions such as inflammation, an unhealthy gut, high toxin load, food sensitivities, or "out-of-whack" hormones (to name just a few). These conditions don't just affect your body, but also affect your brain, resulting in depression, anxiety, insomnia, "brain fog" & other psychological symptoms. Medication can work spectacularly well, but often doesn't, if the body is too imbalanced.

I use a holistic approach, treating the full person rather than just symptoms. I specialize in treating Adults and Adolescents (12 years and up) with mood, self-esteem, and concentration problems, as well as working with more diffuse issues around identity, interpersonal relationships, and professional achievement. I address emotional distress and difficulties in daily living. This could manifest as depression, anxiety, insomnia, problems with intimacy or self-esteem, problems with concentration, feeling excessively angry or guilty, or trouble finding meaning in life, to name only a few.

An additional focus of my practice is on the evaluation and treatment of insomnia.
My practice includes the treatment of individuals with a variety of clinical concerns with a specialized focus on mood, anxiety, trauma, and attentional problems. I value a thorough diagnostic assessment in order to provide individualized care. Because I am skilled in utilizing biological treatments, such as psychiatric medication, as well as psychotherapy, I can provide multiple treatment options. I emphasize a thorough discussion of my diagnostic impressions, and I strongly encourage patients to ask questions and share in treatment decisions. My goal is for patients to feel comfortable and confident with their care.

I am able to provide medication management for any condition included in the DSM-V. Mood disorders, psychotic disorders, neurodivergent disorders, Depression, Anxiety, sleep disorders, etc. When managing Neurodivergent disorders, documentation to support childhood evaluations and diagnosis is required upon initial meeting. Sleep or Insomnia Psychiatrists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
