My background includes a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Physiology, Master's of Science in Nursing, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice in both Psychiatric Mental Health and Adult Primary Care. My training in psychiatry includes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic mental health conditions, along with crisis management.

What are your symptoms? Anxiety, fatigue, avoidance, sleeplessness, back pain, procrastination, loneliness, anger outbursts..... All symptoms are experiences of pain (dis-ease) and/or ineffective behavior. Symptoms will occur when your "operating system" is overtaxed. My treatment approach focuses on reducing your symptoms and developing more strength and flexibility in your overall managing system, e.g., how you characteristically feel and act in the world. Due to known and as yet unknown problematic side effects of all prescription drugs, I use much safer and ultimately more powerful methods for symptom relief, prevention of recurrence and enduring health.

I completed medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago, a general (adult) psychiatry residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a child psychiatry fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. My name is Emma Engel. I received my Master's degree as an Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist/ Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in 2003 from the University of Hawaii. I have 20 years of experience working in various settings, treating persons suffering from mental health symptoms. I have specialized post graduate training in diagnosing and treating Autism, ADHD and other mental health concerns in a pediatric population.

Dr. Gundu Reddy is licensed in Illinois. Prior to starting a residency at Mount Sinai School of medicine, she pursued additional research in HIV psychiatry. As well as residency training, she has also pursued further training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the NYU Psychoanalytic Institute. She states that whether prescribing medication, family, or relationship therapy, understanding psychodynamic conflict and causes of symptoms will cause help to enhance the quality of care. As well as psychodynamic training Dr. Reddy also has a background in integrative psychiatry and treatment resistance.

As a group psychotherapist and addiction psychiatrist, I am available to work with you on any phase of recovery from addictions, compulsive behaviors and the effects of being in a relationship with an addict (whether parent, sibling, partner or child). I understand addiction as a broad disease, including substances (alcohol, nicotine, opiates, stimulants, sedatives and other drugs), food, sex, money, work and codependence. I often work in collaboration with individual therapists and mutual support groups to enhance the effectiveness of each intervention.
