I am a licensed physician, board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. I'm also a fully trained psychoanalyst. After medical school and psychiatric residency at the University of Colorado, I opted for over four additional years of training in intensive psychotherapy (psychoanalysis) beyond what most psychiatrists undertake. While I spend most of my time doing psychotherapy, I also prescribe medications when appropriate. I have a particular interest in treating physicians of all specialties who struggle with work related burnout, depression, or other mental health issues
I sometimes use ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) to help patients achieve a deeper and more profound therapeutic experience to treat depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
I prefer not to "split" treatment (i.e. have one professional such as a psychologist do psychotherapy while the psychiatrist manages only the medication).
