She graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, where she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. Dr. Varshney completed her residency in psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine/ Elmhurst Hospital Center, in New York City. She then went on to complete a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Worcester, Massachusetts, Department of Law and Psychiatry.
