I am Douglas A Reed, a doctorally prepared advanced practice nurse. I am certified as a family and psychiatric nurse practitioner, for which I've been in practice for more than five years, working in outpatient settings. My therapy approach is holistic, integrative, and collaborative prioritizing the client's needs to develop a patient-centered treatment plan. I use an evidence-based and patient-centered approach to providing care to clients. The client-provider relationship is paramount; therefore, I engage in psychodynamic principles to build a strong foundation between myself and the client.
I utilize a strength-based approach to effect positive change in the areas of communication, problem-solving, and coping. I treat clients across the lifespan, from early childhood to geriatrics.
In particular, I work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the LGBTW communities. The psychiatric disorders that I am comfortable treating are anxiety, mood disorders, depression, psychosis, trauma, ADHD, and mental health disorders associated with chronic medical conditions.
