I am a South African trained doctor and an American trained psychiatrist. I have practiced child, adolescent and adult psychiatry in the town of Fairfield, CT for 28 years. Prior to establishing my full-time private practice I was on faculty at Yale University for 10 years where I practiced more of an academic/research type model of psychiatry. My diverse personal and professional background allows me to truly practice evidence based psychopharmacological care. However, I never only prescribe medications so many of my patients see me for psychotherapy as well as medication management.
My expertise is in Mood and Anxiety Disorders accross the life span. My research interests are in trauma and PTSD. All of my work is collborative - with the patient, their families , with other members of their treatment team, see below. As a child psychiatrst I see many issues through a developmental and family based lens. My team can help you !
I recenty hired 2 amazing child and adolescent trained psychiatric nurse practioners, each with their own area of expertise to help me in the practice. Ariana Rick is passionate about young children and trauma work. Allison Hayes enjoys working with youngsters with ADHD and incorporating excecutive functioning skills in her treatment goals.
