I am a Doctorally-trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience treating a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders. Using a patient-centered, holistic approach to care, I address both the physical and emotional aspects of health and well-being. Welcome! I am Mekessia Richards-Carby, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience working in healthcare. My experience in psychiatry ranges from treating children and adolescents in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs to adults in addiction treatment, as well as older adults as they transition through life changes. I treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, Bipolar/mood disorders, OCD, sleep disorders, and more.

Everyone has a unique story to tell, and by getting to know people on a deeper level, I believe it is possible to address traumatic histories, problematic belief systems, physical ailments, and lifestyle issues which may be manifesting themselves as psychiatric symptoms.

I believe that the key to effective treatment depends upon a strong collaborative alliance between patient and physician. The difficulties you are experiencing are most likely a combination of physiological and psychological problems.Treatment begins with a comprehensive review of your physical, emotional state and social well being. If you need medication we will discuss the various options. Together we will take into account your unique circumstances and arrive at a personalized treatment plan. Subsequent visits will moniter your response to the medication and help you learn how the medication works.

I specialize in teens, adults, and geriatrics who are struggling with anxiety, depression, Bipolar disorder, and PTSD. I believe in a holistic approach to treatment. I provide medication management and individual therapy to teens, adults, and geriatrics. During our initial sessions, you can expect a nonjudgmental and confidential environment where you are heard and respected.
