I'm a compassionate psychiatric nurse practitioner that likes to take the appropriate time to get to know the needs and objectives of my clients. I specialize in adults but will see children 13 and older depending on the case. I treat individuals suffering from a variety of conditions, such as, depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. I value the input of those I work with and through collaboration we will achieve the best possible outcome.

I will work with you to find holistic and humanistic approaches to achieving wellness. At the core of many symptoms, there is trauma and grief, and I will support you in your efforts to heal and construct a life that feels authentic. I will also offer medications that are appropriate when needed.

I have been in the mental health field for over 30 years and am continually impressed by the strength of the human spirit. I am open minded and don't have any preconceptions about an individual or the problems they present with when I meet them at their first visit. Psychiatric services are more difficult to find than ever before while modern day stress has increased demand for quality services. I feel strongly that psychiatric assistance should be easier to find than it is. I also believe that people from all backgrounds, financial circumstances and with varied problems should have equal access to quality mental health care.

I have extensive training in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. I prefer to see patients for both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, although I am open to working with other therapists. I have affiliation with both NYU and Lenox Hill Hospital and enjoy teaching both psychiatry residents and medical students as a voluntary attending. I provide patient focused therapy. I believe that everyone responds differently to different treatment and the best way to achieve their goals is to take a collaborative approach.

Dr. Peckover is a Staff Psychiatrist at Talkiatry. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry. He has been practicing for three and a half years. Dr. Peckover provides patient-centered care with an emphasis on medication management, psychoeducational, and lifestyle adjustments. He typically provides supportive or integrative therapy along with medication management, but some cases will require the addition of a therapist to the treatment team.

He received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and his medical degree from The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, where he graduated with the Department of Psychiatry's award of distinction. He went on to complete his psychiatric residency training at Northwell Health's Zucker Hillside Hospital, with a specialization in the assessment and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and related conditions.

Lisa embraces a humanistic and holistic approach to care with a commitment to individualization and collaboration. She believes many episodes of depression and anxiety are rooted in underlying emotional wounds related to sexual, physical, and/or emotional trauma, including direct and indirect abuse or neglect. Lisa is committed to evidence-based medication management. She emphasizes the complementary role of psycho-pharmacological treatment in establishing and maintaining functionality while "doing the work in therapy".
