In my psychiatric nursing practice, I specialize in addressing the unique needs of individuals grappling with moderate to severe anxiety and depression. I first obtained my Bachelor's in Psychology from Appalachian State University in 2007. I then completed my Diploma in Nursing from Watts School of Nursing in Durham, NC in 2010. While working full time in the local hospital as a registered nurse, I put myself through school to obtain my Bachelor's in Nursing from Appalachian State University in 2010. Life happened and I moved to Ohio to complete my Master's in Nursing; Family Nurse Practitioner from Ohio University while working as a nurse on a med-surge unit.

My clinical focus is on holistic and patient centered care for adults and adolescents, with special attention given to treating anxiety, depression, stress related disorders, as well as substance use disorder. Further, I am trained in motivational interviewing and CBT which I find to be effective tools in understanding and treating these issues. I believe in taking a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to helping my patients reach their goals. My practice emphasizes the importance of creating a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship to facilitate the process of healing.

I try to help each person I work with feel understood and appreciated as a whole human being with strengths that can be mobilized, as well as with their own emotional suffering. This enforms me how how I relate to you, your child, teen, or family. Medications are used if necessary, and if progress is made and they are no longer needed, are lowered and possibly stopped. If they don't help I make every effort to adjust, change, or combine to get the desired result.

Dr. Ayesha Rashid, MD is a licensed Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She received her training in Adult Psychiatry at State University of New York, Upstate University Hospital at Syracuse, NY where she went on to complete her fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She worked in the capacity of Attending Physician, Psychiatry at Syracuse Veterans Hospital before moving to Houston.

I am a psychiatrist (medical doctor/physician) skilled in psychotherapy (talk therapy, counseling, executive coaching, and psychoanalysis). I have been in private practice in Houston since 2008. I have experience working with adolescents, and adults in acute care, residential settings and in outpatient settings. In all my work I have learned the value of careful history taking and slow and careful medication management for all diagnostic categories. She developed a holistic approach to patient care during her nursing career, leading to a bachelor’s degree from Western Governors University Utah. With experience in medical and psychiatry hospitals, she recognized the impact of mental health on daily lives and relationships. Mrs. Shu furthered her education with a master’s in nursing specializing in Mental Health from Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, TX.

Napoleon B. Higgins, Jr., MD, is a psychiatrist in the Houston/Clear Lake City Area. He currently serves as Owner, CEO and President of Bay Pointe Behavioral Health Service, Inc., and South East Houston Research Group, Inc. He also practices as the Medical Director of Hold My Hand Residential Treatment Center. Dr. Higgins specializes in treating mental health disorders through medication management, psychotherapy and behavioral training.
