I was born and mostly raised in Ann Arbor Michigan, lived in Hawaii for thirty years, and lived in Oakland since 2004. I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a BA, graduated from medical school and completed psychiatric residency at the University of Hawaii, and am board certified in psychiatry. I worked for my first twelve years after training in a Healthcare for the Homeless Project, and helped birth a specialized shelter for severely psychiatrically ill homeless people. Since then I have worked in hospital wards and outpatient clinics. In my free time I love to dance.
