I am known among my clients as Dr. Shawn, and I take great pride in employing a holistic approach that considers the brain-body connection when treating individuals. Due to the brain's resilience in these age groups, my passion lies in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I am dedicated to implementing a holistic treatment approach to foster a productive life for my clients. I am currently welcoming new clients. To ensure effective treatment and gain a thorough understanding of my client's needs, all new client appointments take place in person.

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and am willing to work with patients of all ages to help them identify and manage their psychiatric symptoms. As your provider, we will work together and create a treatment plan that is right for you to improve your quality of life. I have 13 years experience in nursing, including critical care, prior to obtaining my Masters Degree in Mental Health. I completed graduate school through Chamberlain University in Chicago, IL.

I am committed to the well-being of the mental health community. I have a passion for equality with the intent to offer superior services to those in need. I provide medication management based on safe guidelines and evidence-based practice. Initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-ups face to face or telepsychiatry are available. I also work with licensed Intensive outpatient (IOP) therapists. My focuses are, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD. I am currently taking patients from ages 6 and up across the lifespan.

Cindy Strother Terry, APRN, PMHNP, BC, graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Austin Peay State University in 1985. She graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 2004 with her Masters of Science in Nursing with a specialty tract in Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained a Certificate in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy from The Albert Ellis Institute in New York. She has maintained a private therapy practice in Nashville since 2011. She specializes in addictions with Dual Diagnosis, Trauma, PTSD and Complicated Grief from adolescents to adults, LGBTQ friendly.

While I believe pharmaceuticals are only a piece of the puzzle, I recognize when medicine is a necessary modality to help a patient feel like themself again. I am capable of diagnosing and prescribing for all mental illnesses, as my behavioral health experience includes: working in inpatient psychiatry, working for a psychiatrist as his personal Nurse Practitioner, and as the psychiatric provider for a clinic that serves the working uninsured. we do not file your visit with insurance. Intake appts are $250 and follow up appts are $150 and we can see you within a week.

We welcome new patients and accept most insurances except for UHC/Optum, Medicaid, Beacon. At Nashvill Brain Institute, we offer full psychiatric and neurological services. We are specialized in depression, anxiety, PTSD, dementia, brain trauma, suboxone detox treatment. We have therapists working in the same clinic. The psychiatrist and therapist developed a customized treatment plan together for our clients. We offer holistic approach of mental health treatment by using genetic testing, TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatment, Ketamine and natural medicines.
