I am a psychiatrist who is interested in you as a person and how we can work together to help you feel better. I am careful and intentional with medications. I strive to make sure you understand potential common side effects as well as potential benefits. In some cases, it's possible no medication is needed at all. I also have additional training in evidenced-based nutraceuticals and non-prescription medications. I take into account any genetic predispositions, family history, upbringing, and life experiences before offering a diagnosis. Our relationship is very important to me; I consider myself a warm and responsive physician.
My four-year residency at the University of Chicago in adult psychiatry taught me how to treat complex problems, non-psychiatric illness manifesting as psychiatric symptoms, and trauma. Although I primarily use medication, my appointments may include psychotherapy techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, and psychodynamics.
