I believe that people come into counseling with their own solutions. My job is to create a unique therapy for each individual to help them uncover and build upon strengths they already possess. I seek to make the therapy room a safe & non-judgmental place for all emotional experiences, and a place to make peace with parts of ourselves that we fear & dislike. As clients build compassion for themselves, they find their compassion for others growing, and the strength to examine & change their lives for greater happiness & fulfillment.

Anxious in Austin Kids is a neuroaffirmative, contextual behavioral 8 week program that teaches children 8-11 years old helpful ways to respond to anxiety. Young people will learn skills to support awareness of their experiences, while transforming unwanted thoughts and feelings into an opportunity to connect with what matters to them. Parents will also be provided these skills as well as strategies to support their child throughout the program, with two parent-only sessions at start and close of treatment.

We currently offer donation based support groups for those who have had a loved one die or who are divorcing/divorced. Most people I work with want help connecting with others more deeply. Some want help with depression or anxiety. And others want help identifying and meeting some needs in life, love, or work. With over 15 years of experience, I specialize in working with people who want to improve their relationships with others, increase their emotional communication, and identify their needs in life.  I bring a natural curiosity as well as empathy and compassion when helping you work through some of the barriers that may get in the way of you reaching your goals.

While anxiety can motivate and protect us, it can also become an overwhelming presence that may lead to some challenges. You may find that your anxiety prevents you from doing the things you want to do, achieving your goals, enjoying your relationships, and succeeding in school or at work. In an attempt to cope with and decrease anxiety, you may find that anxiety actually grows and becomes stronger. Through a supportive and collaborative environment, I would like to help you develop the skills needed to change your relationship with anxiety and gain back control of your life.

Finding the right therapist can be like choosing among healthcare plans or tax preparation options...a tedious necessity in trying to meet your particular needs. 17 years of professional and clinical experience has helped me refine service to men, women and couples addressing life's most complicating issues (infidelity, sexual compulsivity, PTSD, communication problems...). Based on your assessed needs, our work together will be sensible, practical and results-oriented. This is an ongoing mixed gender group where members can explore in a safe environment how they relate to themselves and others. They can receive support and feedback as they experiment with making new and deeper connections with other members. The group provides a place for members to discover that they share many of the same challenges as other group members. Talking with those members can bring feelings of validation and acceptance. It is also a terrific way to test the skills that a client has developed in individual counseling; to experiment with and gauge the progress already made.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples navigating difficult periods in their lives. I take a collaborative approach that is grounded in a curious and compassionate inquiry into the areas that get us all stuck. I work with individuals to move through these places in the context of a safe and trusting relationship. Within that relationship an individual can harness their own innate drive towards health and well-being. My work is grounded in my own mindfulness practice and I encourage clients to experiment with mindfulness as a path to transformation and wellness.

Anxiety is meant to keep you safe from possible threats, but, when it gets too active, anxiety can be exhausting. The mind may race with questions and worries that don't have solutions. The body can respond with tension and feel like a current of electricity has been turned on. Your emotions may go from zero to sixty and be more reactive. You may view the world through a lens of danger. It can take a toll on how present you are in your life, your job, and your relationships.

Hello and welcome! If you're reading this profile it likely means you're looking for assistance either for yourself or for someone else. Finding a therapist that's a good match can be very challenging. It can be hard to know what you're looking for in a therapist and how to go about selecting one. I offer a free consultation to assist with determining goodness of fit without commitment. The research shows that having a strong client-therapist relationship can significantly increase positive therapeutic outcomes.

I believe therapy is a process helps people to fully participate in their lives. I use several therapeutic styles and a collaborative approach. Together, we identify "the problem," then explore obstacles that block the process. The goal is wholeness and healing and you, as the client, decide what that looks like. Building a safe, respectful and trusting relationship is essential for success ---- as the client defines "success." I also believe that even in the most dire of circumstances, we can find joy, hope and even laughter. I enjoy playing a part in that with my clients.

Group Therapy allows for an integrated conversation among persons that share some of the same experiences. In group therapy openness and respect of others concerns, is absolutely, vital to starting, maintaining and concluding a successful group. Groups will be specific to the needs of the current clientele of Live and Glo Counseling Services. Clients will have the opportunity to attend an eight-week group, that will be closed after the third week. This is done to ensure that cohesiveness is achieved and pro-social behaviors are learned, and demonstrated through the members in their community.
