For Pennsylvania social workers in healthcare or short-term, crisis-related fields ready to seek clinical licensure, I offer virtual group supervision. I know beginning work toward your LCSW is a big decision and a financial commitment. We will work together on a plan to ensure that you get the most out of your supervision hours and grow professionally as a result of our work together. Review tough cases, reflect on your own relationship with your work, and practice connecting theory with intervention. I anticipate that supervisees are ready to work hard and to make the investment of time required to achieve licensure.

Therapy will help you talk through your struggles, remember your strengths, and develop strategies to cope with caregiving, anxiety, and loss.
You spend so much energy taking care of others, it's hard to think about making time for yourself. Maybe you’re coping with aging parents, a partner with a chronic illness, a child with special needs, or your own diagnosis of a serious illness. Feeling stressed or sad has started to feel like your "normal" instead of just a bad day. You feel anxious or angry sometimes, and you're not sure why. Maybe life has started to feel like a chore – you’re doing everything you can and it still doesn’t feel like enough. It's harder to connect with the parts of life that used to be meaningful, and that can feel really lonely.

I can help you to adjust to your loss through individual counseling, support groups, family therapy, and workshops.
Everyone’s loss and grief is unique, and yet loss and grief are universal human experiences. There is no one right way to grieve. No universal stages or timetables. No specific coping strategies that are effective for everyone. Yet most people who have experienced a significant loss, have much in common and are able to find ways to cope with their loss and able to reinvest in life. We will find coping strategies that will work for you, positive ways to stay connected to your deceased loved one, and increase meaningful activity and interactions with others.

It is a place where you can feel safe, grounded and secure, as you explore the difficult areas in your life that you may not want to face alone. Therapy can help you identify unhealthy thinking, and break destructive patterns, so you can make better choices. It also helps you to discover your own inner strengths that can bring deeper healings from within. We are all a work in progress!

Forgiveness is a frequent dealing in life, Spirituality teaches us to forgive but do we really know how to process the emotional fallout especially when the offense is of enormous proportion. What does reconciliation look like or are we even called to be reconciled to the offender? What about self-forgiveness, is there a place for this? $85/session ends April 1, 2019.

Your grief matters, and together we’ll create a space where your loss is not only recognized but honored.
Grief and loss can be shattering, especially when life takes an unexpected turn. The pain of an 'out-of-order' death, illness/accidents, infertility, estrangement, or other tragic life events can be overwhelming, leaving you unmoored and uncertain of how to move forward. These experiences disrupt your sense of safety and change you in profound ways. Not all grief is visible, but it’s no less real. The loss of a sense of self, the heartbreak of betrayal, or the quiet suffering of putting others’ needs ahead of your own can leave you feeling unseen and misunderstood. Betrayal—whether by a loved one or by life itself—can cut deeply.

As a Therapist, I play a risky role in my client's life. I have the potential to become another fearful problematic relationship, which is, in most cases, the repetitive maladaptive pattern of functioning that causes clients to find themselves in tuff situations. I help people work on changing behaviors and deal with grief, anxiety, anger, and depression in a non-damaging approach to preserve my client's self-esteem and effectively make necessary changes. My goal of treatment is to help you protect your peace and learn what emotions are telling you to do.

Grief Support Groups

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
