The bereavement group is comprised of a small number of people grieving the death of a loved one. These individuals share experiences and the group is designed to manage the emotional and physiological stress associated with loss and bereavement. The goal is to help you face and manage the immense negative feelings associated with loss (i.e., anxiety, fear, anger, sadness, guilt, blame, isolation). They are conversation based and focus on helping individuals feel supported, understood, and connected to others. This group meets weekly to help you face these overwhelming challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.

This twelve week, twelve session workshop covers practical concerns that parents face - it is interactive, not a lecture series. Based on "Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.)," developed by Thomas Gordon, PhD., you will learn a system of communication, with specific skills and techniques to cover the situations that are part of your everyday family life. You will be able to apply what you learn each week with family and friends, have a chance to assess how you're doing, and ask questions. My goal is to ensure that you have an educational and relevant learning experience. Please visit my website www.villageparenting.nyc

I've been in private practice for over 34 years, seeing a wide variety of people. I see adults and teens for individual psychodynamic psychotherapy, and also counsel couples and parents. I see clients for short-term as well as long-term therapy, depending on their needs. I work with clients suffering with anxiety and depression, relationship issues, communication difficulties, and work matters. Each person is seen as a unique individual with concerns that are taken seriously and addressed with respect and caring in a safe, non-judgmental environment. The goal is to promote self-understanding, self-acceptance, and a happier life.

These groups are for adults and therapists wanting to explore and strengthen the intersection of relationships, identity, and work.
Feeling "stuck" or even "paralyzed" in your career, daily life, or relationships (in areas even beyond romantic) are often why people seek me. My culturally open approach means we will understand how your past and present relationships, ideas, and feelings shape who you are today. I primarily use psychodynamic and relational modalities with a sprinkle in CBT and DBT. Talk therapy can lead to deep and lasting changes, and medications, when thoughtfully prescribed, can lessen the intensity of pain and suffering. With my medical and therapy resources, we will create an approach that helps with personal growth.

Everyone experiences anger – the issue lies not in anger itself, but in how one chooses to handle it. Whether you’re grappling with a minor anger issue you’d like to address early on or are facing a significant challenge that’s impacting your life and relationships, this group could provide meaningful support tailored to your needs. This weekly group consists of topics that are targeted to help you better understand your anger and learn how to effectively manage and reverse destructive behavior patterns. It is also intended to equip you with specific skills that will enhance your interpersonal relationships and improve your self-esteem.

I have been in private practice for 18 years working with adults, couples and adolescents. I help guide people who may be ambivalent about what it is they want in their relationships or careers, or are unsure how to get what they do want. There are often hidden things we haven't given voice to, usually out of concern of being judged, hurting others, or feeling ashamed. Concealing or judging parts of our true selves in this way often interferes with love, work, friendships and a sense of purpose, often causing difficulties such as depression and anxiety.

Symptoms related to menopause can negatively impact our relationships and functioning. Yet, finding support can be difficult because of the myths and stereotypes surrounding menopause. Whether you are perimenopausal or menopausal, you will benefit from this support group. The group's mission is to support women through group discussions and to educate women of holistic treatment options that take into account the physical, psychological, sexual and social changes a woman experiences during the transition.

I work with individual adults and couples of all ages, races, ethnicities and sexual orientation.
Protecting yourself from pain by trying not to feel it only causes more pain. Do you distract yourself from uncomfortable feelings by over-working, eating or drinking too much, shopping, or dating? Much unhappiness is created by no longer useful coping devices. Avoiding feelings like anger, shame, regret and powerlessness, closes off access to informative parts of you. In our work together, I utilize practical tools, not just theory, to help you identify and remain connected to your feelings. Staying connected to yourself while relating to others allows for loving in healthy ways and feeling loved and valued by others.

I work with adults and provide individual, couples and group psychotherapy.
I am interested in how thought, emotional, and behavioral patterns affect one's well-being. Developing awareness into how habitual thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and psycho-emotional processes interfere with relationships and living a happy, satisfying, and creative life is an important key to adapting them (making them work for you, instead of against you) and learning new ones.

These are taught in an educational group format, much like a classroom setting. Groups meet on a weekly basis for 90 minutes. All group members must also have an individual therapist even if that therapist is not at NYCBT. There is a Monday group from 6:00-7:30pm, two Tuesday groups at 5:30-7:00pm and 7:15-8:45pm, and a Wednesday group from 6:30-8:00pm.
