I specialize in working with teenagers and adults who are struggling with issues of identity or interpersonal challenges due to interpersonal, racial or gender-based trauma.
“There is no greater agony than bearing the untold story inside you.” - Maya Angelou. Each person’s story shapes them and a burden to carry alone that is relieved when met with empathy. I consider it an honor to be present with clients as they share their untold story, gain greater self-knowledge, and manifest the story that is yet to come. I come from a place of curiosity and non-judgement around each individual’s lived experience. I hope to create a warm, accepting space where you can be your authentic self, feel safe to express your uncensored thoughts and share both laughter and tears.

For better or worse, few things in our lives have as much impact as our relationships and interpersonal traumas, which is why I chose to define as sex and trauma therapist.
We cannot change what has happened to us, but we can change what we do with it. I aim to empower clients to overcome triggers from past traumas that are creating obstacles in present. My experience of navigating the sometimes rough waters of understanding my own asexual, biracial identity, has created a drive in me to be a helping hand and an empathetic ally for all those who are trying to figure out who they are. With empathy, compassion, and acceptance, I serve as a guide to my clients' as they embark on a journey of self-exploration, as a witness to their stories, and as a partner in achieving their goals and desires.

Once you are engaged in a safe, validating and honest therapeutic space, there is tremendous potential for growth. I appreciate the risk you take when you share your struggles and stories. In honoring that risk, I will remind you every step of the way of your power. Pain, distress and discomfort can inform us about the ways we see, move through, and live in the world. I will encourage you to explore these pain points and move forward with a new perspective: more in alignment with your values and goals. I come from a social justice framework and trauma-informed lens, acknowledging how inequity and injustice inform your narrative.

One section of this ongoing weekly group meets at Thursdays from 6:30-8 pm; I am hoping to start another as well (day and time TBD). These groups help people who survived early childhood trauma, neglect and/or abuse further their recovery. Attention is paid to creating a sense of safety in one's own body and with others. An atmosphere of mutual respect and support is maintained as participants share their week-to-week experiences and engage in psychoeducation and activities fostering understanding and healing. Members improve self-esteem, practice self-expression and further healing and healthy grieving.

I work well with clients who are ready to deal actively with their issues and see real progress. Whether with individuals, couples, families or as a leader of group therapy, I combine psychoeducation and an eclectic mix of techniques from traditional talk therapy, psychodrama, IFS, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and mind-body techniques. My practice has been primarily virtual since the pandemic, but I am starting to see clients in person on Wednesdays and have a few openings.

This is a group for people identifying as women (trans women welcome) who have been in destructive relationships with people whose narcissistic tendencies include treating others manipulatively and abusively. Whether enacted by parents, bosses, romantic partners, siblings or friends, Narcissistic Abuse undermines the self-esteem, reality and independence of those victimized by it. This group will allow people who are or have been in such relationships to learn more about Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome and the codependency it depends on to continue. Members will share their experiences, process psychoeducation and do exercises that promote holistic healing and change.

As a somatic psychotherapist, I integrate the mind, body, and soul fostering emotional, cognitive, physical, & social integration. I've observed the transformative impact of connecting to the body: releasing emotional blockages, tapping into its wisdom, understanding behavior patterns, and transforming stuck emotions into growth. I recognize the challenges of overwhelming environments, leading to reactive and dysregulated states. Despite intellectual self-awareness, there might be a gap in emotionally embodying authentic selves. This cycle can result in disconnection from self and others.

DBT embodies the essential dialogue between radical acceptance and change. How do we deeply explore the difficult parts of ourselves with self-compassion and love, while simultaneously stretching to grow, evolve and heal? Group will form a safe and adaptive community in which to explore these questions and to dig into the key themes of DBT: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness. DBT is a highly effective for working through relational difficulties, issues of self-worth, and tolerating difficult emotions. Group work will incorporate somatic exploration, breathwork and creative expression-- all designed to help participants imagine and fully embody a life worth living.

Part of being human means creating balance as you navigate the curveballs of life. Therapy with me means we meet you where you are and you are at the helm of your healing journey. I believe you are your own healer and already possess the wisdom you need to make the best decision for you. Sometimes that looks like slowing down and taking a pause to look backwards in order to move forward. Other times it looks like learning to make space around your anxious thoughts and feelings to actively practice control over them instead of letting them control you.
