This group is an eight week commitment. Meetings will be held on Thursday nights from 6:00-7:15 PM, 4/12/18 thru 5/31/18.

Do you ever feel stressed or overwhelmed by others' expectations? Do you sometimes struggle to feel fully engaged with life? Battling with an addiction or eating disorder is a painful process that is driven by secrecy and control. My goal is to help break down these walls and bring what hides in the darkness into the light in a nonjudgmental, caring, and compassionate manner so you can begin to see a different way of living. I truly believe only when you feel enough support and safety are you able to begin making choices for health and recovery.

The curriculum used for this group is from the Life Model. We utilize this neurotheology approach to build joyful and life giving connection with one another and reflect healthy and accurate identity to each member. Personal life experiences are shared intermittently as group members feel strong enough to lean on one another for support which moves them into deeper freedom and recovery. The idea is for members to utilize the group to find a place of connection and safety so that they can find their true identity.

For several years I have specialized in anxiety disorders. Individuals with anxiety disorders tend to struggle with chronic doubt that interrupts their ability to enjoy life. They tend to be living in their hypothetical lives, versus their actual lives. They are asking themselves, "but what if...[insert worst case scenario]." My goals for YOU is to learn to trust yourself again and to live your actual life, rather than worrying so much about all those "what ifs..."

This male sex addiction recovery group is led by a therapist with specialized training in both sex addiction recovery and Christian sex therapy. The group is a combination of process (where each person is both engaged personally with the therapist and with other men in group in an affirming, safe atmosphere) and psycho-educational where the therapist will select the group's relevant areas of need to address key dynamics in the recovery process. The group also begins to focus on the deeper intimacy needs of the addicts, where healthy emotional bonding begins to take place within the group.

The typical clients I work with are like you and me, usually have successful careers, have a faith orientation, although not always, and have a tremendous longing to find, repair, or revitalize something gone wrong in themselves or in relationship with those closest. They are individuals and couples who are hurting at their core, who want more than just a quick fix, a few techniques, or merely a listening ear. They want answers, real, deep, transforming answers. They realize deep down that it is probably going to take longer than they want or expect. But, they are longing and willing to do whatever it takes to get to a better place

Professionally led and clinically focused PROCESS GROUPS FOR MEN. A supportive, yet rigorous environment created for men who struggle with intimacy and relating to others. Honest vulnerability, and the courage to face one's own inadequacy and paradoxically one's surprising sufficiency as men, is required. An excellent extension of a client's 12 Step Group work; accountability group work; Marriage or Individual counseling. The focus will be on one's personal narrative and connecting the historical choices to deaden and harden one's heart (at great detriment to ourselves) and CURRENT self-defeating strategies, negatively impacting our relationships today.

Real change is hard, long-term work not meant to be done alone. Dysfunctions around sexuality, food, money and work (the so-called "process" addictions) are primarily a struggle with intimacy. One needs to understand THE FUNCTION OF one's own self - destructive behaviors: that self hatred is not low self esteem; that contempt for others is not good self concept; that my wife is not the problem; and that sex is not my greatest need. I am several steps ahead of you on a journey I encourage you to take. Real change is hard, don't do it alone. :)

Goals: Understand and process how one's past is currently showing up in relationships. Learn how to re-regulate one's nervous system in order to experience more connection, joy, and safety in relationships. Participants will learn self-regulation tools--these can be used to help participants feel grounded and supported, explore how one's backstory continues to show up in current relationships, learn how trauma stored in the body manifests in physical health symptoms, connect their physical/body sensations to the origins in their own story, and create safe connection with other participants in the group.

It’s okay to ask for what you need. This is something I need to remind myself of on a daily basis. So many of us focus intently on making sure everyone else is taken care of and we completely abandon ourselves and ignore our own needs. This leaves us feeling exhausted, depleted, and quite frankly, resentful because we think to ourselves “why isn’t anyone taking care of me?” I teach my clients what a healthy relationship looks like because if this wasn’t modeled to you at some point throughout your life, no one can expect you to know what it means.

We're supposed to drink enough water, get enough sleep, exercise, save money, make money, work hard while having work/life balance, be a great spouse/parent/sibling/child, travel more...the list is endless. We are taught to engage life at a grueling and intense pace that is becoming increasingly difficult in the backdrop of a tumultuous world in crisis. I don't view mental health in a vacuum; sometimes depression and anxiety are appropriate and healthy responses to stressful and unprecedented life events. I teach solution-oriented skills to address feelings, improve communication and live in a healthy way that honors your humanity.
