Please visit therapyredeemed.wordpress.com/about/ for more info & resources! Have you ever wondered about your adoption story? Has there ever been doubt, fear, anger, pain or confusion when it comes up? What’s it been like for you to process your personal experience of birth family, loss, grief, race, identity, or even those seemingly benign curiosities about your narrative that come up from time to time? For parents, of course you want to help your children as they embark on that path. This can often feel uncertain or overwhelming, with so many subtle nuances that feel way too complicated to handle without appropriate support.

The shame of not being in control of your life can feel so isolating and anxiety provoking. And the thought of talking about it with someone else can feel paralyzing at times. How did I get here? Why can't I fix this on my own? Why do I keep going back? What is wrong with me? Do I have a drinking problem? Why can't I sleep? Do I need to quit or can I just cut back? Why is my relationship so difficult? These nagging thoughts could go on and on.

Statistics and experience inform us that many Christian men and women in all walks of life struggle with porn use. Many are lost and don’t know how to get help for what they feel is a shameful addiction. Certain pervasive beliefs within the Christian community unwittingly create a context in which those who use pornography are often overwhelmed with shame and discouragement, sometimes to the point of depression or withdrawal from faith altogether. CrossRoads has been designed to assist with these struggles in a safe and confidential environment.

I've been working with adults and teens for over 47 years. My approach is empathic, direct, and thoughtful. Given I have a wide background in my training, I adapt my therapeutic approach to your needs. I find that effective therapy is a collaborative approach where we work together to understand your concerns, their origins and most importantly what can be done to bring about both the internal and behavioral changes that will be beneficial to you. My goal in therapy is to help integrate your shame and vulnerabilities into a healthy identity grounded in self-esteem and pride.

Positive Discipline is based on the belief that all human beings have the basic need to belong and feel significant and that all behavior has a purpose and function. This way of parenting is very different than the typical thoughts on parenting and discipline. It is empowering for both the parent and the child. It treats the child and the parent respectfully and with dignity. The concepts and tools are simple, but it is not EASY. And it is worth the effort!
