DBT is comprehensive treatment program developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, based on Dialectics and Biosocial theory. This treatment focuses on the reduction of self-injurious and impulsive behavior, increasing management of extreme mood dysregulation, improving cognitive distortions, and decreasing crisis-oriented and chaotic interpersonal relationships. DBT is effective in supporting individuals who experience chronic suicidal behavior, frequent hospitalizations and treatment resistant behaviors.

I approach my clients collaboratively with a warm, accepting and compassionate attitude. I believe developing a trusting relationship is the most effective foundation to approach the hardships and mind habits we all face in life. I use specific CBT and Mindfulness skills to help my clients reduce symptoms and feel better soon. Anxiety, obsessiveness and depressed feelings can be significantly reduced while I teach clients how to govern the mind, creating new habits and strategies. As a practitioner of mindfulness who has attended many Insight Meditation retreats, I can share with you the benefits of attention from both personal and professional experience.

‘Meditation for Beginners’ is a group created for anyone who is new to meditation, believes that they can’t meditate, or has been unsuccessful in practicing meditation on their own for whatever reason. We will spend eight weeks reviewing the foundations of mindfulness and meditation while practicing different styles including mindfulness of breath, focused attention, movement, body scan, visualization and loving-kindness. My intention is to provide a low-pressure, compassionate space for learning, practice and support for the challenges that occur when practicing. And who knows, maybe it will even be fun! This in-person group will have a 6-person max.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety - whether it’s from external demands or internal struggles. Maybe it's social anxiety, "a life transition," or healing from trauma. Or maybe it's something more general, like you want to feel more "in control" of your emotions…and your life. I can help. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of your challenges, empowering you to move forward - with skill and confidence. I use “treatments that work” (CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc). But we’ll find what works for YOU. Lastly, I don’t just want you to just “feel better.” I want you to live your best life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

The group is designed to help people change patterns of behavior that are not effective, such as self-harm, suicidal thinking and substance abuse. We aim to help people increase their emotional and cognitive regulation by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states. This group will also help people to assess which coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, thoughts, feelings and behaviors that lead to the undesired behavior.
