My 21 years of experience as a licensed marriage and family therapist, divorce discernment counselor, spiritual guide, and hospice grief counselor has equipped me to help a wide variety of adults, teens, and couples recover from "stuckness" and depression, find deeper relational intimacy, and discern steps to move forward in their current relationship.
Are you feeling stuck in a difficult circumstance or a relational conflict? Do you find yourself limited by fear, anxiety, lack of motivation or clarity? Are you discerning whether or not to stay in a current relationship? This can be a painful space. I believe we all have access to deep, still waters within us that can guide and direct us to deeper peace and clarity. Sometimes, we struggle to access that "knowing part" of us. I have 20 years of helping guide men, women, couples, adolescents and families gain skills and find deeper, more peaceful waters in seasons of grief, anxiety, depression, divorce & couple's conflict.

The structure of this 8-week class will be a mix of didactic learning, gentle experiential exercises, questions and answers, and processing of what it is like to talk about emotions authentically with others. You will learn to better understand and work with emotions - not changing emotions, but having a different experience with them. These experiences will lead to a richer and more authentic life. This course is based on Hilary Jacobs Hendel's book, It’s Not Always Depression: Working the Change Triangle to Listen to the Body, Discover Core Emotions, and Connect to Your Authentic Self.

You’ve tried everything—talking it out, giving it time, even pretending things are fine. But deep down, the distance between you and your partner keeps growing. The arguments leave you feeling unheard, and the silence feels even worse. You wonder if it’s too late to fix things if the hurt is just too deep. You miss the connection you once had, and you’re scared of losing it for good. If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to face it alone. I help couples who feel stuck and disconnected find a way back to each other, to heal, and to rebuild the trust and closeness they long for. Let’s work together to save what matters most.

As humans, our desire for connection and belonging is innate, healthy and our birthright. Too often, parts of us seem to sabotage our relationships and peace of mind by utilizing old learned patterns, meant to protect, but now limiting our fullest expressions of love and security. When we explore, honor and understand the origins of these parts and turn toward them with compassion, we offer ourselves the opportunity to integrate and heal old wounds, to live and love in the present, informed by, but not limited by the past. I assist individuals and couples in transforming themselves and their relationships.

Many of the clients I work with recognize the soul even if they call it something else like spirit or Self. Regardless of what we call this depth we often arrive at crossings in life where that center is lost, buried, or suffering. These can be painful crossings, with subtle and sometimes disturbing pleas for a return to adventure, more imagination, trauma sensitivity, exploration of sharing our gifts - and pursuit of a more meaningful life. Combining the insights of Jungian psychology with the mapping of the archetypal quest, dream and process work, and brainspotting....

Grief Support Groups

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
