Mental health is an integral part of leading a wholesome healthy life. As the saying goes “healthy body, healthy mind”, the opposite is equally true. Life comes with all sorts of traumatic events and difficult circumstances that impact our mental wellbeing and manifests in feelings of sadness, anxiety, stress, anger and discontent. It is important for us all to navigate and overcome these difficulties so they don’t affect our overall health and quality of life.

You thought that you would be beyond this by now. But the memories still haunt you. No matter how much you try to ignore it, painful unresolved events from the past are slowly crushing you under their weight. Your mind constantly races with anxiety and guilt, and it’s impossible to concentrate on anything for long. There are never enough hours in the day to get everything done. So many people are counting on you. You’d love to slow down for a moment, take a break and make yourself a priority for a change, but you’re unsure how. You know things can’t go on like this. Unless you make a change soon, you’ll be no use to anyone.

I specialize in helping women whose spouse is struggling with problematic sexual behavior, affair recovery, and marriage issues counseling. Hope begins when you get unstuck and find a way forward. I understand the pain, anxiety, and loneliness that comes when a marriage relationship has drifted apart or even has been shattered by cheating or addictive behaviors. I also know that if both partners are willing to do the work, they can build marriage number 2 that is vibrant, connected, and joyful. My clients have said they "feel comfortable", "cared for", "given hope", "found a way forward", and "feel so much better after therapy".

Perhaps you’re a newly committed couple seeking a strong start. Or you’re in a longtime relationship that’s going through a rough patch. When we partner with another person, we bring together two different sets of values, beliefs and world views. Over time these differences, often combined with poor communication, can lead to power struggles, conflict and even pain. It doesn’t have to be this way. At The Couples College, we have created an easy, intimate, even fun learning experience based on proven research and techniques. Our goal is to teach you new skills to manage any situation, no matter how difficult.

Women have such an illuminating spirit and bring so much warmth and strength into each space they enter. Often times, with the weight of everyday stressors, working to create a foundation for yourself, and being a support to everyone else around you, women often forget or have not learned how to prioritize their own needs first. It is time to release, create peace, emotional freedom, and develop a stronger sense of true self worth/compassion in a space with other women who desire the same. Millions are affected by burnout every year. Unfortunately, you're probably one of the millions affected. While burnout isn't a medical condition, the impact of burnout can cause negative medical conditions. In addition, our collective mental health has been impacted by the pandemic. Whereas we before had a distinction between our workspace and personal home space, working remotely has muddled the waters in that distinction. In this group, you will learn stress management tools, coping mechanisms, self care, and make valuable lifestyle and workstyle changes towards recovery. Limited to 10. Meeting will be via Vsee(HIPAA compliant). CLOSED GROUP

Women's Issues Support Groups

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
