I think of therapy as a way of freeing ourselves from the obstacles which prevent us from moving forward in our lives. Frequently these obstacles present themselves to us in the challenges such as problems at work, difficult relationships, adapting to life changes, or in the sudden impact of a traumatic event. Sometimes what stands in the way of our freedom and happiness lies within us, as negative thought patterns, conflicting or confusing emotions, and unexpressed feelings--all of which can result in depression, anxiety, chronic illness, low self esteem--burdens we often carry alone.

Creativity is an opportunity to communicate with our inner self. Guided meditation is a way to find the path to our subconscious. Combining these and the possibilities to learn about who we are become endless. Group participation allows the sharing of experiences and collective healing in the shared experience. This group is online. One section of this group is offered for members of the Queer community only. Other group sections are open to everyone. If you're interested in this group, please inquire about group start dates and different group day/times. This group runs for 8 weeks before opening again for new members.

Our team of therapists is passionate about helping children, adolescents and families thrive. Many children struggle with emotional regulation, school and social anxiety, and behavioral challenges, but play therapy and other expressive therapeutic modalities can help them to express their needs in healthier ways. At Gaia Counseling, we have seen first hand how giving children and teens a safe space to process their inner emotional world, while keeping parents involved every step of the way, can not only transform their way of communicating but can also help families come together in ways that promote growth and healing.

You feel like you're not a good enough mother, but you're afraid to admit it to anyone so you're feeling more alone than you ever imagined. It wasn't supposed to be like this. How are other people doing it? You're feeling so overwhelmed you can't think straight, and can hardly handle what used to feel like the simplest of tasks... You're wondering if you'll ever get your old life back, if you'll ever be able to go through the day without crying or lashing out at the people you love most. I get it, and I can help.

Ambivalence towards therapy is entirely natural, particularly for those who are not accustomed to seeking support. Recognizing the need for help can feel daunting, as it might seem to challenge the roles you've long upheld—perhaps as the family's hero, the fixer, or the helper. There might be a fear that your vulnerabilities will become apparent in reaching out, questioning the identity you've consistently portrayed. However, it is crucial to embrace a pivotal truth: showing vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but a profound act of bravery. Asking for help is a courageous step. Therapy is transformative self-discovery.
