Addiction cycle, refers to the circular pattern characteristic of addiction. While there are many different types of addiction - alcohol, substance abuse, sex, overwork, overspending, gambling, nonmedical use of prescription drugs, overeating, etc. - the addiction cycle is common to each of them. It consists of phases, which may be of short or long duration, and generally progress in a repetitive pattern. We each spend some time in the various phases of the addiction cycle. The group will explore these phases and the physiology of how addictions hijack our brains to where we make potentially catostrophic decisions. Starts: 05/15/17

Addictions if untreated have the same traits: secrets, ritualistic behavior, obcessions of the mind followed by cravings and compulsive acting out then the shame kicks in and we say, "I'll never do that again and (2) weeks later we are left demoralized as we find ourselves doing it again often with catastrophic results. The group explores the science of addiction and how to gain the tools to stop the behavior. The group will begin Oct 01, 2021 and a phone interview to assess for suitability will be required. No more than 10 members per group session.
