" Postpartum" can be anywhere from a few days after having a baby, to a few years after having your child.
New moms often tell me, "this wasn't what I expected". For my clients, it's disorienting when they wanted to become mothers so badly, and then feel so unlike themselves, postpartum. I specialize in perinatal mental health, which covers everything from trying to conceive, to managing postpartum anxiety and depression, to feeling disconnected from a partner. I'm a mom of three and I've been on both ends of the perinatal therapy couch; I know what a difference it can make to have support in during pregnancy and postpartum.

Whether you’re expecting, in the postpartum period, or navigating further stages of motherhood, you deserve to feel empowered.
Becoming a mother, whether for the first time or again, can be a difficult change that can often lead to unwanted anxious thoughts, depression, and self-doubt. You may worry about getting it “right” or feel overwhelmed. Before you were a mother, you had another identity and may be trying to get back to yourself. Some moms struggle to bond with baby, but you can learn to nurture a trusting attachment. Becoming pregnant and giving birth can be a powerful experience and you may want to feel more prepared or process a traumatic birth. You deserve support and skills to ease the unique challenges and vulnerable moments in this journey.

We’ll use an approach based on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy that allows for healing from a trauma without having to verbally share one’s trauma narrative. The group focuses on processing specific traumatic memories so that they can be more adaptively stored and understood. I help people who want to be parents deal with the stress and frustration of infertility, pregnancy, miscarriage + stillbirth, traumatic births and perinatal depression + anxiety.
You imagined the path to parenthood to look a lot different. Pregnancy, trying to conceive, coping with losses and becoming a parent for the first (or umpteenth time) can be quite different than expected. It's important to get help if you're feeling overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious as you anticipate and cope with these transitions.
