Does your partner hint that therapy might be good for you? It's a common suggestion, not a critique. It's because those who love us often see our potential before we do. This is a space for young men who are ready to expand their emotional toolkit, develop self-awareness, & improve the way they engage in relationships. Understanding yourself better means you're equipped to build stronger, healthier relationships. It's not just about responding to your partner's suggestion—it's about taking control of your personal development and becoming the partner, friend, & person you aspire to be.

NOW accepting new clients! If you're struggling with depression, anxiety, identity development or unresolved trauma, there is a path forward. You might feel like you keep trying to make changes in your life, and maybe things will go well for a while, but nothing sticks. You're motivated to change, you just need some extra guidance. Many emerging adults struggle during the transition from adolescence to adulthood. They spend their days feeling anxious and unfulfilled, falling back on patterns that used to work for them but which no longer are.

I specialize in anxiety disorders and mood disorders but have experience with almost all major diagnoses.
We all face challenges throughout our lives. What defines us is how we choose to address the issue. Mental illness is not uncommon but what can be uncommon is having the courage to seek help. Issues surrounding mental health often arise during major transitions whether it be age, school, work, family, or loss. A diagnosis of a serious mental illness should not define you or hold you back. Fighting a mental illness can be exhausting. Don't go this alone. Let's talk about your goals and dreams and get you back on track to living your full life. I will push you to reach your potential but I will also be by your side through it all.

But I’m also willing to offer specific, actionable advice, like coping skills for anxiety.
Experiencing relationship conflict or career stress? Want to learn healthy communication skills? Struggling with anxiety or depression? Curious how your upbringing impacts you today? I can help because I've been there too. Years ago a painful breakup motivated me to go to therapy, which helped so much that I eventually became a therapist myself. I can help you find relief, get unstuck, and make changes to create the life you really want. I can also teach you self-care practices like meditation and healthy communication skills.

Anxiety Support Groups

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
