ACOA- Adult Children of Alcoholics Support Group

Growing up in a home with a parent battling alcoholism can perpetuate a sense of unpredictability & leave kids wanting a more stereotypical childhood. This often results in children shouldering shame & responsibility, feeling isolated & downplaying their needs to cope. Suppressed emotions like sadness, fear & anger may resurface in adulthood, interfering in relationships with others. As an adult, your safety is no longer dependent on the same parent. This group aims to support you in learning to let more emotionally available people into your life. In group therapy you can explore ways to establish better boundaries & protect a sense of inner peace.
