Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) is a class-based therapy for people with overcontrol disorders. It is different than standard DBT, which seeks to treat undercontrol disorders. RO DBT works to help those outside of their "tribe" (whatever that may be) integrate back into it and create a life worth sharing.

I want to help you create a life worth living and a life worth sharing. I want to help you create a life worth sharing. Over the years, therapists have focused on diagnoses, like depression or anxiety. Plum Behavioral's Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) class seeks to treat the core of the problem for some, excessive self-control (overcontrol, or OC). We work to help you improve your social signaling (what others see) so that you might form stronger social bonds, enriching your life and helping you share the best of you with others.
Coming 2024: DBT Skills Training consists of 24 weekly group sessions focused on four modules- Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Commitment to the entire 24-sessions is required, as the skills build on each other. In this group, you will learn how to apply these DBT skills responding to and coping with eating disorder symptoms and behaviors. We also discuss their application to general emotion dysregulation.
Extremes in our emotional and psychological states can lead to imbalance, avoidance and mindlessness, and can be related to extremes in other areas of our health, such as eating, activity, and sleep. Eating too much or not fueling our bodies enough, stress or emotional eating-these are ways we cope with or respond to extremes in our thoughts and emotions, and distracts and disonnects us from our life values and goals. I am here to help you reestablish your values and goals by focusing on a more balanced perspective and awareness of your mind, body and behaviors.
Coping Clinics are Psycho-Educational groups that work on ways to deal with the troubles (and sometimes pain) that life can bring. Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Relationship Issues and more are covered in these groups. First time is free, the $20 per after that.

Do you have a history of relational trauma that's making your life unlivable? Have traditional therapies left you feeling worse? If you have overwhelming symptoms (dissociation, self-harm, suicidality, addiction, panic) or intense diagnoses (PTSD, Complex PTSD, DID, or BPD) and past therapy hasn't helped, I offer a radical new take. It helps address the root causes of your struggles, not just treat the symptoms. It involves deeper, richer work that offers real and lasting change.

Through creative expression, you can explore and process complex emotions, gain insights, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Our supportive group environment fosters a sense of community and help you feel less isolated. No artistic talent needed!

My ideal clients are caretakers, helping professionals, and people pleasers—often middle-aged women with lingering childhood wounds. They’re thinkers and survivors but want more than just managing guilt, shame, depression, or perfectionism. They face physical symptoms like migraines, nausea, or autoimmune issues, even when doctors say “you’re fine.” But they get to a point where they want to go further than just cope with symptoms. They’re ready to break through the wall, make big changes, heal deeply, and finally trust themselves.
Begins 9/16/2024 - Change the way you think and feel about feeding your body using the original Intuitive Eating principles. Learn to trust yourself, make peace with food and follow your body's cues for care and well-being. This group is a good fit for adults who struggle with emotional eating, chronic dieting, or have struggled with an eating disorder and are ready to learn how to approach food more intuitively. This group may not be a good fit for those early in recovery or needing a structured meal plan - but we hope that some day you will be!

No matter what our body size, we can find ourselves out of balance with our eating, thoughts, and emotions when we are desperately trying to stay afloat with the demands of life, family, work, and other obligations. Instead of acknowledging what we do well, we may focus on our shortcomings and criticize our abilities and bodies. A vicious cycle of trying to control our weight and eating can lead to further criticism, guilt and disappoinment. At Eating & Behavioral Health Associates, I work with adults of all sizes and body types to find compassion and ease in their life by bringing balance into their thinking, eating and behaviors.

Sometimes the greatest healing can come from simply being heard. And when there are more people to listen to us, that process can be amplified. With this philosophy in mind, I invite people to come and share what has been on their minds. The intention of this group is not to acquire skills or to seek advice from other people, it is to create the feeling of being felt or understood. The power is not in the cognitive take-aways, it’s in the presencing and the impact of being with what’s in front of us.

When was the last time you showed up for yourself with the same love and compassion you have for those around you? All too often shame and self-judgement feed anxiety and insecurities, getting in the way of feeling good about yourself. I can help you quiet the self-judgement, calm your anxieties, and learn to really value yourself. You can have your own back, set boundaries without guilt, and feel comfortable in your own skin.

My goal in therapy is to provide my clients with the space that they are needing. I am skills-based in my therapy and am happy to provide education and practice with coping skills. I work toward client-centered goals with you and look at any barriers to meeting those goals. I myself am diagnosed with ADHD and love to hold space for those that are neurodivergent and provide a place to take down your mask. Body image and self-esteem are also topics that I am passionate about exploring with my clients if there is interest in that.

The world has been a hectic and a traumatic place over the past year, especially for first responders. This group will provide a secure place for first responders to process the trauma they see and the stress they experience on a day-to-day basis. Even heroes need help sometimes. When you're with me, trust that it will be a HIPAA compliant, safe and secure experience, with optional, scheduled office appointments upon request. Who is a typical client and what brings him or her to seek help? You are an individual who may have a busy schedule, a family, or perhaps a physical or psychological mobility issue. You are someone who may have no previous exposure to therapy, counseling or consultation services, or someone who is a seasoned traveler. Whatever the reason, your comprehensive needs are my professional priority.
Life is a journey with many ups and downs, turns and curves. Some of those ups and downs, turns and curves can overwhelm us and we need help coping. Our therapists provide safe, affirming spaces that empower each individual through teaching new skills while honoring life experiences. We integrate the mind, body, and spirit, all of which play vital roles in the way we think, feel, and behave; and support each individual’s journey to inner peace and well-being.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, identity, relationships, and other issues. Being vulnerable about our struggles can be incredibly difficult. My goal is to empower my clients to lean into that vulnerability so we can function together as a team to work through them. I strive to create a non-judgmental and compassionate space where individuals from all backgrounds can feel seen and heard. In my practice, I pair a person-centered, strength-based focus with cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed approaches.
Intuitive eating has ten principles that allow us to repair the relationship with food and our bodies. This is anti diet model of treatment to help with eating disorders or disordered eating.

We are a practice of licensed professionals who strive to build authentic relationships with our clients to help them make the changes that they are looking to make. While we are professionals, we are not the expert of our clients and instead aim to walk alongside them. We enjoy working with clients of all walks of life and we place value on the "fit" between client and counselor. For this reason, we have a thorough intake process that helps match client with clinician, including a free 15 minute consultation with a clinical intern prior to scheduling.

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in 43220?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, zip code, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counseling is typically less expensive than individual counseling, with each session costing on average between $60 to $75. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from $100 to $200 and up, even after insurance. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
As with individual therapy, many insurance companies do offer coverage for group therapy sessions. However, the coverage varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider. Individuals are encouraged to check with their insurance providers to verify coverage.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
