This group has been designed by women for women. During group sessions, we will address various stressors and daily challenges specific to women. Participants will learn how to tap into their feminine energy to overcome life challenges by developing healthy coping strategies. This group is facilitated by Lakisha R. Austin, LICSW. MBA, MSW. Anger is taboo yet serves a significant role in the everyday lives of everyone in this country. We are taught its power in childhood and as we grow we learn how to manipulate it to meet our needs. We tend to not like anger, but we respect it. We fear it and what it can do, yet we provoke it. We perceive it as a threat, and then justify when we demonstrate it -denying intent to cause harm. This workshop explores the role of anger in our lives and the service it provides to not just others, but to ourselves as well.

Stress is so normal we don't always realize when we are experiencing it. As we take on more and more our sleep, appetite, attitude, relationships, and productivity shift. We rarely attribute this to stress until someone else brings it to our attention. What we may not notice, however, is that our blood pressure has risen, our hair has thinned and is falling out and we are sick more than usual. This group explores the role of stress in our lives, the effect it has on our bodies, and what we can do to improve how we manage it.

This twelve-week mental and physical wellness experience focuses on feminine energy. We meet on Mondays 7-830pm, Wednesdays 7-830 pm, Saturdays 1-2 pm. Participants will engage in a combination of activities such as boxing drills, outdoor group boot camps, a comprehensive nutritional assessment, meal preparation coaching, group/individual thought-therapy, and access to a supportive feminine community via a private Facebook group/zoom call. The program will be held both in-person and virtually on a weekly basis. Weekly group coaching/therapy will be held via zoom. Individual coaching/therapy sessions will be held bi-weekly.

Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?

Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.

How much does group therapy cost?

Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
