Josué Cardona M.S.

Josué Cardona M.S. coined the term Geek Therapy as a mental health counseling intern in 2011 and has since been developing, refining, and teaching the Geek Therapy model of affinity-based intervention. Josué created the Geek Therapy community bringing together therapists, psychologists, teachers, and advocates.

Josué is a contributor to the Popular Culture Psychology book series edited by Dr. Travis Langley. He co-created the course Geek Culture in Therapy formerly taught in the Clinical PsyD program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology by Dr. Patrick O'Connor and he co-authored an article on implementing gaming concepts in educational settings titled "Gamification: A Pilot Study in a Community College Setting" in Boston University's Journal of Education.

Josué was president of the New York City chapter of the NY Mental Health Counselors Association (NYMHCA) and a board member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina (LPCANC). In addition to his educational, clinical, and research work, Josué runs the Geek Therapy Network which produces podcasts, videos, live streams, and fundraisers and he moderates community spaces that bring professionals and fans together to learn from each other.
