Joel Weinberger, Ph.D., is an academic, psychotherapist, and businessman. The theme that underlies all three areas of activity is unconscious processes. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in human motivation at Harvard University. His work has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, and he was the recipient of the Ulf Kragh award (University of Lundh, Sweden) for his work on unconscious processes. Dr. Weinberger is currently a professor of psychology at the Derner Institute of Psychology at Adelphi University. He is a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). He is author or co-author of more than 80 published articles and chapters and three books. His most recent book, The Unconscious: Theory, Research, and Clinical Implications, is a state-of-the-art scholarly, review of what is known about unconscious processes, offers a theory of the unconscious, and details psychotherapeutic implications of this knowledge.

Dr. Weinberger is also a founding partner of Implicit Strategies, which consults to marketing research firms, businesses, political campaigns, and nonprofits. Through Implicit Strategies, Dr. Weinberger helps organizations discover what consumers and voters unconsciously think and feel about their candidate, product, or brand. His political and business commentaries have appeared in the national media. Beyond unconscious processes, Dr. Weinberger’s interests include personality, motivation, political psychology, and effective components of psychotherapy.

Not least, Dr. Weinberger is a practicing clinical psychologist trying to help his patients improve the quality of their lives.
